I'm just an interested bystander (Florida resident). There is talk here of repealing the ban on open carry, and I'm always interested in what's happening in other states facing similar issues.
Right now, in Florida, you can open carry on your own property, as well as when hunting, camping or fishing. There is a concerted movement within the state to have the ban on statewide open carry (established in 1987) repealed. Governor-Elect Rick Scott has said he would sign such legislation if he gets it.
I'd like to see that happen, though more from a constitutional standpoint than from a personal desire to carry openly. I just don't think there should be a law against it.
It'll just be nice to have another state to point to if we get the chance later and say, "Iowa recently open carry, and there was no bloodbath; in fact, crime went down!"
